The Mark of Storm offers House Lyrandar several powerful benefits, and next to House Jorasco, at least in rural areas or in shipping ports, there is no more favored name. House Lyrandar is split into the Raincaller Guild and the Windwrights Guild, the former helping to bring much-needed rain to rural areas for crop growing, and the latter running much of the sailing ships, as well as the mighty elemental galleons, that transport goods by way of water. The Windwrights are also known for the small but growing fleet of airships sailing through the skies.
House Lyrandar is made up of half-elves, and thanks to certain events from their history, half-elves on Khorvaire are their own distinct race. Where elves came from Aerenal, and humans came from Sarlona, half-elves are born from interbreeding from these two races, and were born on Khorvaire. As such, many within House Lyrandar refer to their race not as ‘half-elf’ but as Khorovar, or Child of Khorvaire. House Lyrandar has engaged in prescribed marriage practices for generations (though recently have loosened up, somewhat) to establish actual half-elf lineage. While some dream of forming their own nation some day, they are largely content with co-habitation.
