Possessors of the Mark of Shadow, the elves of House Phiarlan have, perhaps predictably, two faces—the face that the public knows, and the face known about but never discussed. The Mark of Shadow gives power over illusion and of course shadows, and much of what Phiarlan does with their power is beautiful. Song, music, theatre—House Phiarlan’s Entertainers and Artisans Guild, especially the Carnival of Shadows, are both well renowned for their performances, to the point that if you are serious about the arts, you go only to Phiarlan licensed venues. But House Phiarlan deals in more than just illusions. The Serpentine Table is their espionage arm, and they perform everything from simple spying to more involved matters. They are an ancient house, some several thousand years old, and their elven members are all tightly knit.
